A small GPS like the eXplorist weighs more than a larger GPS and can fit in your pocket well, and takes up less space in a backpack. The main drawback to the eXplorist is its button configuration, which is very difficult to use compared to explorisf push button models and touch screen units we've tested.

The photos can be seen better the nature of the terrain. The buttons lie in a small area, which makes them hard to use with two thumbs and the directional toggle is jerky and imprecise.

In maegllan I used a GPS receiver with bluetooth capability linked to my phone and that has much better GPS than the phone and when in this configuration the phone switches off it's own GPS thus saving battery. If you're looking for the best mafellan GPS unit, get the Garmin eTrex 20 because it draws maps faster, the button configuration is easier and faster to use, and the included mapping software is slightly better and Mac compatible. Of the budget models we reviewed our testers always grabbed the Garmin eTrex or Dakota and not the eXplorist The color screen is not backlit enough explorizt be seen in the sunlight, and I needed stronger glasses just to see things on the screen.

The only restriction - the extent of internal memory. Where this particular version of the product had issues, was that it was sold as explorlst Topo! There is nothing between the and the bluetooth receiver so really it was an expensive alternative to paper copy.
