This has been verified to work by several people including me and I did not read any negative report so far. The creators update introduced some new features that take advantage of some Network Card hardware optimizations that are available on newer models. These features have been available on Server versions of windows for some time.

It worked the second time, I have the controller enabled and everything is working now so I assume the fix worked for me. I have the same question I have an old Dell E, which has worked well for many years.
